Custom Sources

Connect any API.
If it has assets, Syncific can sync them.

Use a Personal Access Token to connect any creative API as a source. 20 presets included for popular platforms — or configure any REST endpoint manually.

How it works

Three steps to any API.

Choose a preset or configure custom

Pick from 20 pre-configured API presets, or enter any REST endpoint manually. Presets come with response mapping already configured.

Paste your API token

Generate a Personal Access Token in your provider's developer settings and paste it into Syncific. Encrypted immediately — never stored in plain text.

Browse and sync

Your custom source appears alongside built-in sources. Browse assets, select images, and sync to any destination — web app or Chrome extension.

Presets

20 pre-configured API sources.

Select a preset, paste your token, done. Response mapping, pagination, and endpoints are already configured.

Security

Patent-pending token vault.

Your Personal Access Token is the key to your creative library. Syncific treats it like one.

Encrypted on server

PAT encrypted at rest using server-side encryption. Never stored in plain text.

Never in database

Token is vaulted separately from application data. Database breach cannot expose it.

Never in client code

Token never sent to the browser. All API calls are mediated server-side.

Broker mediates, then exits

The broker authenticates on your behalf, fetches the asset list, then exits the request chain.

Items path results.photos

JSON path to the array of assets in the API response.

ID field id

Unique identifier for each asset.

Name field title

Display name shown in the browse UI.

Thumbnail field urls.thumb

URL path for the preview thumbnail.

Download field urls.full

URL path for the full-resolution download.

Pagination page / per_page

Page-based or cursor-based pagination support.

Response mapping

Teach Syncific to read any API.

Configure how Syncific interprets the API response. Map fields to tell Syncific where to find the asset list, thumbnails, download URLs, and pagination controls. Presets come pre-mapped.

Plans

Custom sources on Agency and Max.

Custom sources complement the 7 built-in OAuth sources available on all plans.

Agency

5 custom sources

Connect up to 5 custom API sources alongside your 7 built-in OAuth sources. Ideal for teams with a focused set of external asset libraries.

Max

Unlimited

Unlimited custom API sources. No cap. Connect every creative API your workflow touches — stock libraries, DAMs, headless CMS platforms, internal tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

What APIs can I connect? +

Any API that returns a list of assets with thumbnail and download URLs. If the API has an endpoint that lists images, files, or media — Syncific can read it. The 20 presets cover the most common creative and content APIs, and the Custom API option lets you configure any REST endpoint manually.

Where is my API token stored? +

Your Personal Access Token is encrypted on the server using Syncific's patent-pending vault — stored in an encrypted file, never in the database. When you browse, the broker issues the token for the duration of your session, and the browser calls the source API directly. The token is never persisted client-side, never included in client-side code, and the vault key never leaves the server.

Do I need developer experience? +

No. The 20 presets come pre-configured with the correct API endpoints, response paths, and pagination settings. You just paste your API token and start browsing. For the Custom API option, you'll need to know the API endpoint URL and how the response is structured — but no coding is required.

How many custom sources can I add? +

Agency plan includes 5 custom sources. Max plan includes unlimited custom sources. All plans include the 7 built-in OAuth sources (Lightroom, Figma, Canva, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Shutterstock) at no extra cost.

Does it work with the Chrome extension? +

Yes. Custom sources appear in the Chrome extension drawer alongside your built-in OAuth sources. You browse, select, and sync the same way — no difference in the workflow. The extension reads your configured custom sources from your Syncific account automatically.

What's the difference between custom sources and built-in sources? +

Built-in sources use OAuth — you click 'Connect' and authorize via the provider's login screen. Custom sources use a Personal Access Token (PAT) that you generate in the provider's developer settings and paste into Syncific. Both types appear identically in the browse UI and sync the same way.
